Our StoryBoard Animatic

A story board is a sequence of drawings, typically with some directions and dialogue, representing the shots planned for a film or television product. It enables us to visualise the camera shots and narrative that will eventually appear as a music video on the screens. We video'd our story board and edited the footage in time with the music in order to allow us the visualise our final creation.

Feedback from our storyboard:

 Advantages:

  • The pictures allowed us to visualise what our final product will look like
  • It allowed us to see whether our narrative will fit in time with the music
  • Having this story board will also allow us to be more organised or our filming day as we will know the timings and the shots to be used beforehand
Disadvantages:
  • The pictures in the animatic are standstill and so therefore it is hard to visualise certain shots. For example, a picture that is meant to show a long time lapse will be hard to visualise with a single picture
  • The drawing is not very good and so therefore it looks unprofessional
This process of visual thinking has allowed my group to brainstorm more ideas and play around with the Music video until we were completely happy with our final Idea.

Lyrics For Our Song

"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"

I remember when we broke up the first time
Saying, "This is it, I've had enough," 'cause like
We hadn't seen each other in a month
When you said you needed space. (What?)
Then you come around again and say
"Baby, I miss you and I swear I'm gonna change, trust me."
Remember how that lasted for a day?
I say, "I hate you," we break up, you call me, "I love you."

Ooh, we called it off again last night
But ooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you

We are never ever ever getting back together,
We are never ever ever getting back together,
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together

Like, ever...

I'm really gonna miss you picking fights
And me falling for it screaming that I'm right
And you would hide away and find your peace of mind
With some indie record that's much cooler than mine

Ooh, you called me up again tonight
But ooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you

We are never, ever, ever getting back together
We are never, ever, ever getting back together
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me (talk to me)
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together

Ooh, yeah, ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Oh oh oh

I used to think that we were forever ever
And I used to say, "Never say never..."
Uggg... so he calls me up and he's like, "I still love you,"
And I'm like... "I just... I mean this is exhausting, you know, like,
We are never getting back together. Like, ever"

No!

We are never ever ever getting back together
We are never ever ever getting back together
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together

We, ooh, getting back together, ohhh,
We, ooh, getting back together

You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me (talk to me)
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together

Research Into Revenge

As the main idea of our narrative is about a girl getting revenge on her boyfriend, we thought it was important to research different types of revenge that is commonly used on cheating ex boyfriends. By looking online, we found the main types of revenge were:

  1. Posting on their social media
  2. Graffiti their car
  3. Smash their playstation
  4. Smash their CD's
  5. Throw his clothes out onto the street

From doing this research in ways to get revenge from your ex boyfriend, it has influenced our narrative in spontaneous ways to make the ex boyfriend suffer and have some sort of regret for their breakup. The playstation idea caught our eye, so my brother has an old playstation which he says we can use for the music video. We will smash it up and put it in water. This is a very sabotage way to get revenge.

When researching I also saw the graffiti on the car. We are going to use this idea of graffiti and put it over the ex boyfriends wall. Due to this being a pop video, it will be brightly coloured to emphasise the theme of the song and to also highlight the importance of the revenge.

One of the most poplar ways to get revenge was the idea of to hack his social media. We are going to hack his Facebook with funny post in order to attempt to embarrass him. To make this more effective we are going to screen grab the screen so the viewer can see it typing.

Development of Narrative and Performance Element

Our idea developed based research into revenge films/songs

The Other Women:

They took revenge on those who wronged them. There was a scene where she got revenge by putting a laxative in his drink, making him leave the table and have diarrhoea. This influenced our idea as we have taken this revenge idea for the ex girlfriend to do something to the boys drink and for him to suffer the consequences.

John Ticker Must Die:

In this film In order to get revenge the ex girlfriend spread a rumour that the boyfriend had herpes. We've taken this idea and develop it into a Facebook ‘frape’ in order to embarrass him.

Wrecking ball- Miley Cyrus:

In this music video one of the main props is a hammer. She smashes things to show her anger. In our music video we will adapt this idea through the use of photo frames of them as a couple. She will throw these photo frames against walls to connote 'we are never ever getting back together'
